New Drug! New Hope!
I do and am hopeful about the new drug. I have many wishes. I feel optimistic. I am grateful for modern medicine, doctors and nurses. I began my first treatment of Lequembi yesterday. It is the new Alzheimers drug that is administered at a medical facility. I was excited to start my first dosage yesterday! I drove 40 minutes across Las Vegas to the only facility that provides the drug in my city. My husband was attending an all day workshop for Caretakers at the Cleveland Clinic. I think I had a better day than him.
Mine was spent at a modern medical office with lounge chairs and couches for the patients to relax in while receiving the IV treatment. I had a view of the mountains and a cart full of snacks to keep me happy. It lasted only 45 minutes and passed by quickly. It gave me hope and the feeling that I'm doing something to fight this horrible disease. I will continue this procedure every couple weeks.
My husband had a good day with a great lunch with other Caretakers. He learned more about how to handle my care, our home and future with this horrible disease. I didn't ask for this disease and certainly don't want it. Thank you Roslyn Carter for implementing the Caretaker Program when she was First Lady. It is ironic that she recently died with Alzheimers disease. My husband came home with a heavy guidebook full of helpful information. The program used to provide home visits, but future governments cut those programs. I am grateful to Mrs. Carter for her kindness. ❤️
My poor husband did not come home as optimistic as I did. He heard horror stories from others at the workshop. He looked scared. I don't want to hear those stories. I am going to hold my head up high and continue living with dignity. 💪
I am a caring, strong woman with a wonderful, supportive family. 💖 I am not going to allow this disease to bring me down. I did not choose this and will continue to fight it daily. I will be helpful and kind to others. I am getting all A's in my current college level teacher recertification course. I read books daily and write. ✍️ I am a kind, loving person, wife, mother, grandma, sister and aunt. I am not giving up my life. Stay tuned for positive future developments. ❤️ 💙
