Music Jam with Lou Rouvo Clinic
What a unique musical event at a cool, old style Vegas club sponsored by Cleveland Clinic! The owner has ties to the Clinic and invited patients who are musical to play along on instruments and sing on stage. It was a big event for them and enjoyable to experience. Did you know every 65 seconds someone develops Alzheimer's? 😊
My CC ukulele teacher invited me and helped organize the event. I brought my instrument, but chickened out when I heard the musicians. They were amazing and I shook my mararcas song with the band. Some talented patients sang and played along with the professional jazz band.
Cleveland Clinic Music Therapist Julie Renato initiated this entertaining event. She even sang onstage with one of her patients. Many talented singers and musicians had the opportunity to perform in a nightclub stage.
The musicians and former singers enjoyed performing together. They raised their hands and had their moment of fame onstage. What a great way to perform again!
Why did Lou Rouvo build the Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas? He named it in honor of his father Lou who owned a restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip. He was a wine expert , a conniseur
and an entrepreneur. His memory began to fade as he slipped into dementia. His son began to raise money to fund this professional facility in Las Vegas.
