Back to Reality

Isn't this an artistic hospital in Las Vegas? I had my first appointment here yesterday? It is the Cleveland Clinic for Brain ? I had to wait months to finally get an appointment. The Staff is as wonderful as this creative building. They offer research studies, patient classes and a library for brain health. 

I guess our backpacking adventure around the world is officially over. Now we are catching up on doctor appointments, home repairs and errands. It is nice to be home and have our clothes and stuff again. It is a bit overwhelming to deal with repairs, pay bills and go to appointments. We are finding enjoyment in plays, restaurants and walking. We need to return to the gym!

I returned to the Cleveland Clinic today for our first appointment with the behavior therapis. She met with my husband and I to ask us multiple questions about the history of my disease. Other questions were related to my habits, behavior and attitude. I will continue to meet with her for guidance for my future. My husband has a workshop for Caretakers. I have a music class at the Children's Museum. There is a monthly newsletter with available classes in art, music, exercise and cooking. I am looking forward to meeting others in fun brain activities. What a great resource!

  What a unique musical event at a cool, old style Vegas club sponsored by Cleveland Clinic! The owner has ties to the Clinic and invited patients who are musical to play along on instruments and sing on stage. It was a big event for them and enjoyable to experience. Did you know every 65 seconds someone develops Alzheimer's? 😊 My CC ukulele teacher invited me and helped organize the event. I brought my instrument, but chickened out when I heard the musicians. They were amazing and I shook my mararcas song with the band. Some talented patients sang and played along with the professional jazz band.  Cleveland Clinic Music Therapist Julie Renato initiated this entertaining event. She even sang onstage with one of her patients. Many talented singers and musicians had the opportunity to perform in a nightclub stage.  The musicians and former singers enjoyed performing together. My Dear Grandchildren

  Dear RJ, Emma, Jimmy, Zoe, and any other future grandchildren, I am writing you a letter today from my hotel balcony in Cebu, The Philippines. I just ate a seafood lunch with Grandpa at our beach hotel. It is almost 100 degrees here and very humid. It is a stormy day with a view of the ocean from our hotel balcony. The rain is coming down, but scuba divers are still going out to look at the tropical fish. Grandpa and I went swimming here with our masks and snorkels. We saw many colorful fish and sea urchins. We are eating fresh seafood daily and walk around this tropical Filipino Island. The locals are very friendly and the children are always trying to sell us something from their baskets full of magnets, pencils, pens, and shells. I ask them if they went to school today and finished their homework before going out selling in the local restaurants. They always say YES! Public schools are free in the Philippines for grades K-12.
